Stock Images and Legal Issues

1. What is a model release? Why do you need one? a model release is where you get consent from your models to let you use your photos and you need one to protect yourself legally and if the model doesn't like the picture they can't make you take it down or sue you .

2. Why should you keyword your photos? so they are easier to find later on .

3. Why do you have to be careful about shooting images with brand
names or logos? because the brand could sue you for copyright.

4. Why should you save space? to be able to add text or headlines around the photo .

5. Why do designers like Royalty Free images? its a bargain and not as expansive .

6. Why should designers be careful about using Royalty Free images? other designers might have used the same photo they are marketed far and wide .

7. What is an alternative to Royalty Free images? manage rights

8. In your words, what is the difference between Royalty Free and
Rights Managed stock photography? Royalty free is cheaper but there is a higher chance someone else has and is using the same photo you are . rights managed has more unique and memorable photos , but it is alway harder to deal with , with branding requirements . . . you get what you pay for basically .
9. What is a legal issue that is covered in the FAQ that you never thought of before you read about it? if you take a picture of a relative and they are even semi nude you can be charged with child pornography

10. Why is it an interesting legal issue to you? because when i was little my mom has done the same thing and it happens all the time moms take more pictures like that when the kids are little .

some of the factors that a photographer should consider when taking a still life is the aperture size , the lighting , and balancing elements . when theres too much going on the photo will ooh to busy , when the lighting isn't right it will other look too dark or too light .

3. Why is the Aperture Priority mode on the camera helpful when doing still life photography?
it detects the depth of filed and you can zoom in control it . you can isolate your subject if you wanted to .

4. Why is a small aperture sometimes beneficial for still life photography?
a smaller aperture will bring more sharpness to your photo also your near and far objects. it helps blur out the background and focus on your subject .

RAW vs. JPEG

What are three advantages of a RAW file: soft ware is easy to get to . not as sharp . better to display highlights and shadows.

What is one disadvantage of a RAW file: not suitable for printing directly .

What are three advantages of a JPEG file: corrections isn't needed most times . readable by an image program . capacity is no issue at all .

What is one disadvantage of a JPEG file:
loose data when you edit .

Write your own one sentence definition of what a JPEG file is.
IS quicker than RAW but you loose data every time you edit .

Write your own one sentence definition of what a RAW file is.

RAW takes longer in the process of editing but it can look better than JPEG .

Under the first heading "Capturing the Images," how much of the data does a RAW file retain after it is captured by the camera?
it captures all the data and retains all the information

Under the second heading "Processing the Files," what are some of the things that a RAW file enables a photographer to edit after the image is taken?
contrast , white balance , shadows , colors and saturation .

Under the third heading "Practicalities," what are some of the factors that photographers must consider when deciding to shoot in RAW?
you have to have a bigger memory card because its a larger file than JPEG . RAW file collects more data .

Under the fourth heading "Which one is for you?" why would an aspiring professional photographer need to know how to work with RAW files?
because JPEG has limited editing options . when you learn RAW you can make your pictures look outstanding . the techniques will enhanced your photos and make the customers more happy . you will also have more skills then people who don't learn .

Make a list of three occasions it would be better to shoot in RAW.
1.Wedding photos 2.maternity photos 3.candid photos
